With Euro 2012 fresh in our memory, the list of football fixtures is now steadily growing as we are heading towards the start of the new 2012/13 season in Europe, and it all begins with the early qualifying stages of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League qualifying.
The minnows of European football are currently battling it out against each other, attempting to secure a place in the first round proper, and the possibility of facing some higher profile teams, ensuring some much needed financial rewards and exposure.
Tonight we see the 2nd leg matches of the first qualifying stage of the Europa League, and the first words of betting advice for these games would be to keep stakes small. A number of the better teams secured big wins in last week's first legs, and will see the return leg as a possibility to blood some younger, inexperienced players.
With this in mind, my advice is to stick with games that still hang in the balance. Here are my value bets for tonight's Europa League qualifiers.
Thor (draw no bet) v Bohemians 7.30pm ko (BST) Thor travelled to Dublin last week in the 1st leg, and performed well to secure a 0-0 draw.
The Icelandic outfit currently sit 4th in their domestic league, and will have taken many positives from last weeks draw. While Bohemians are arguably a better side on the whole, the trip to Iceland could well be a gruelling one for them.
Bohemians domestic away form has been below par this season, and Thor will certainly feel they can get something from this game. It's likely to be a very tight encounter, but the 5/4 available about Thor with the insurance of money back if it's a draw looks an appealing bet with plenty of value in it.
Publikum Celje v Dacia (draw no bet) 7.00pm ko (BST) Moldovian club Dacia outclassed their Slovenian opponents last week in their 1-0 home win in the first leg, and I'm taking them to inflict another defeat on a Publikum team that are desperately out of form at present.
Publikum finished last season's domestic campaign without a win in their last 6 games, followed up by their defeat to Dacia last Wednesday. With their domestic season starting this Saturday, it's likely their concentration will be on a good start to their home campaign, after narrowly avoiding relegation last term. Publikum only qualified for this competition by way of finishing runners up in their domestic cup, and Moldolvian Dacia may well secure another victory in Slovenia. Again, the 11/10 available on Dacia with money back insurance in the event of a draw looks a great bet. Again, I must stress that stakes should be small, and I suggest two single bets, which will ensure profit should one selection be successful.
