Cazorla - Ozil can lead us to the title

Santi Cazorla believes the arrival of Mesut Ozil has given Arsenal the ‘big leap in quality’ they needed to challenge for the Premier League title this season .

Following a summer of frustration that saw the Gunners miss out on a number of star names, manager Arsene Wenger pulled off a major coup on the final day of the transfer window, signing German playmaker Ozil from Real Madrid for a club record £42.5million.

Prior to the season start, Arsenal were rank outsiders with all of the sportsbooks listed on bestbet.tips but with that single signing their odds shortened massively. 

After almost a decade of mainly purchasing youngsters and developing them into world stars, the deal has been seen by many as the signalling of a new dawn at the Emirates Stadium while at the same time making a huge statement to their rivals.

Wenger won the title three times during the first half of his reign at the club but the Frenchman now hasn’t claimed a major trophy for eight years and the players famously celebrated coming fourth at the end of last season, a finish that would previously have been seen as a massive disappointment. 

However, they have made a strong start to this term, winning four out of their five games and currently sit top of the table.

Cazorla admits he has been pleased with how his team have began the campaign and believes the signing of Ozil has given them the extra quality needed to try and win the title.

“Hopefully we win the title, but it is too early to talk about it," Cazorla told Sphera Sports. "The beginning is very good. After the first loss the team is performing at a good level.

"We are consistent, that is what we lacked last season. Furthermore, the incorporation of Mesut Ozil has given us a big leap in quality.

"Hopefully we can now become one of the great teams and that gives us the chance to fight for the title," he added.
