Wigan and Chelsea in Moses stalemate
Wigan Athletic are ready to pull the plug on Chelsea's attempts to buy striker Victor Moses.
The Latics have made it clear they do not wish to stand in the way of the 21-year-old starlet, who came to the fore last season and played a big part in keeping Roberto Martinez's side in the Premier League.
Owner David Whelan is scheduled to hold more talks with Martinez on Monday in a bid to find a resolution to the existing stalemate between the two clubs, who meet on Sunday 19th August at the DW Stadium. Wigan are 7.50 to win the clash, while Chelsea can be backed at 1.44. A goalless draw is available at 11.00.
Chelsea have only offered £4million and a host of player exchange options, but the Lancashire outfit are holding out for £10million and need it to finance their own spending plans.
Martinez's argument is that he will need to spend at least £7million to bring in a top-class replacement, and now wants to impose a seven-day deadline.
Moses is out of contract in 12 months time and Chelsea were banking on waiting until the end of the window for Wigan to cave in, rather than them run the risk of losing him for nothing next year.
Intriguingly, Wigan have hinted another club is now showing interest, with Liverpool long-term admirers of the Nigerian international.
