West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce's anxieties receded a little when he completed the signing of £5million striker Modibo Maiga.
Allardyce has been on a striker hunt since the transfer window opened and was disappointed to miss out on Norwich City's Grant Holt.
He's also likely to miss out on Andy Carroll after admitting that a loan move to Upton Park is very unlikely despite the club being ready to pay the England striker's £80,000-a-week wages.
West Ham are 3.00 to be relegated in the 2012-13 season while Wigan Athletic are 2.50 to finish in the bottom three, Swansea City 3.25 and Norwich City 2.50.
Allardyce said: "We need about four new players and, with every day that passes I get a little more anxious, but I'm sure we will get players in."
Maiga has been on Allardyce's radar for some time after the player was fancied by Newcastle last season but failed a medical at the club.
There were no such problems this time around and the player said: "I am really happy and excited about joining West Ham. I know West Ham are a big club in England. They have a huge tradition and it's like joining a family."
