Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain hopes Tottenham's Luka Modric will join him at Real Madrid before the new season gets underway.
The Croatian seems certain to leave White Hart Lane this summer but, after being linked with a transfer to Chelsea for much of last year, Real now appear to be in pole position to secure his services.
That is music to the ears of 24-year-old Higuain, who hopes Modric can help Real defend their La Liga title next season.

Real are 1.72 to win La Liga in 2012-13 while Barcelona can be backed at 2.20. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho's side are 4.50 to clinch the Champions League while Barca are 4.00.
Higuain reckons that former Dinamo Zagreb man Modric would be given a chance to unlock his true potential by making the switch to Madrid, saying: "I saw Modric at Euro 2012 and also at Tottenham. He is a player that the club likes and so do we. I hope it can be wrapped up as soon as possible as that would be best for the team."
Meanwhile, Higuain has denied that he could leave the club as part of the deal to prise Modric away from Tottenham, saying: "I hope this season is as good as or even better than last year, and that we achieve our individual and collective objectives.
"I'm as excited as the first day I arrived here."
