Liverpool refuse to sell Luis Suarez
Even if the Liverpool striker is wanted by those from Arsenal, in exchange for 40 million dollars, the club refused the offer saying that a player aged 26 years is more valuable than that. Liverpool say that value is approaching that of Edison Cavani and Fernando Torres.
Liverpool captain believes that if the team wants to have a good run in the Premier League title fight, they should keep striker Suarez. Otherwise he believes the striker should not go to Arsenal but a team like Real Madrid or Barcelona.
„I've spoken to Luis loads and of course I'm trying to get him to stay”, Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo. ”If we lose him then the challenge becomes even more difficult for Liverpool. It's that simple. If we get the couple of marquee signings we need and keep Luis that will give me confidence that we can compete. Keeping Luis could be our best signing of the summer. If he goes to Arsenal, it obviously makes our season that bit more difficult,” he added. "From the club's point of view it doesn't make sense at all, no matter how much money is put on the table. If he was to go abroad to a Real Madrid or Barcelona I would totally understand it. He's a South American and from a family point of view, it's where they all want to be. If I was Luis I would wait for one of those two clubs because I think he's good enough to play for either of them.”
Uruguian striker came to Liverpool in January 2011 from Ajax, where he was the player of the year in the season 2008-2009, for 22.78 million pounds. He scored 30 goals last season with his current team in 44 games he played.
In his football career he was suspended two times for violent attack on the opponent. The first suspension was for 7 stages because of the bite he applied PSV Eindhoven midfielder, Othman Bakkal in November 2010 when playing for Ajax Amsterdam. The second suspension is in progress, for bitting too. In the match against Chelsea on 21 April 2013, he bit the opposite player Branislav Ivanović.
Despite the suspension for the first 6 stages in Premier League 2013-2014, Liverpool keep Luis Suarez.
