Sandilands blow for Dockers

Aaron Sandilands looks set to miss the first four AFL games of the season.

aaron-sandilansFremantle key ruckman Aaron Sandilands will miss the next eight weeks with a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old suffered a partial tear to his hamstring in the opening round of the NAB Cup. Having played well in the first-up clash with Geelong, Sandilands was rested from the game against West Coast with what the club described at the time as "glute tightness".
But scans revealed the damage was more serious, and he is set to miss the rest of the NAB Cup as well as the club's opening four AFL matches against West Coast, Western Bulldogs, Essendon and Hawthorn.
The 211cm ruckman has had a bad run of injuries since 2011, most notably with his toe. He damaged his big toe in round 9 of 2011, and played only five more times that year and 14 last year as the troubles persisted.
Fremantle will call upon back-ups Zac Clarke and Jon Griffin in the early rounds of the season in his absence.
Meanwhile, Geelong have learned they will be without playmaker Steve Johnson for their opening AFL clash with Hawthorn on Easter Monday.
Johnson was pinged for making contact with Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne with a swinging arm, and will sit out his second consecutive one-game suspension. He was banned from the Cats' elimination final against the Dockers last year for a heavy hit on Sydney's Dan Hannebery.
Johnson opted not to contest the charge, leaving Geelong to fill a gap as they aim to maintain their incredible run against the Hawks. Hawthorn have not beaten the Cats since the 2008 Grand Final victory, with their win streak now standing at nine.
Fremantle are 13.00 to win the Grand Final and 3.50 to finish in the top four.
