Manchester United will have to score in the Bernabeu against Real Madrid on Wednesday to give themselves a fighting chance, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Old Trafford chief is planning to set his team up for a Champions League containment policy, in a bid to keep Cristiano Ronaldo and co at bay.
I do think we have a good chance of scoring, I really do.Sir Alex Ferguson
But the Red Devils' own forward line of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will be handed implicit instructions to hit 'hard and fast' on the counter-attack.
Ferguson certainly feels they can keep Madrid's defenders honest and just how important it could be to grab a goal ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford.
The Scotsman said: "I do think we have a good chance of scoring, I really do. And if you do score then it certainly gives you a better chance when you get back to Old Trafford.
"Over 180 minutes, we've definitely got a good chance. The squad is very strong at the moment. If we can come back from Madrid with a decent result then we've got a great chance."
United are 4.50 to gain a draw in the Bernabeu, with the game 8.00 to end in a 1-1 stalemate, while the Red Devils are 2.40 to eventually win through to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, defender Jonny Evans has responded well to treatment for cramping and will fly out with the rest of the squad at lunchtime today.
