Evra warns United over title lead
French left-back Patrice Evra has warned Manchester United that they could still blow their nine-point Premier League title lead this month.
The Red Devils defender will take his mind off domestic stresses tonight when France take on Germany in Paris, but Evra admits the battle to reclaim the trophy from rivals Manchester City this season is nearing its crunch.
It's really important that we just keep going because the league is not finished in February.Patrice Evra
United opened up a nine-point lead over the current champions with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Fulham last weekend and are 1.10 to go on and win the title, with City 7.50.
Sir Alex Ferguson's team could see that deficit cut to six if City win at Southampton 24 hours before they host Everton this coming Sunday.
And the Red Devils will not need much reminding about the damage the Toffees have inflicted on them in recent memory.
David Moyes' side battled back from two goals down last term to clinch a dramatic 4-4 draw at Old Trafford, which put a huge spanner in United's title challenge.
And Everton also beat them 1-0 on the opening day of this season, with Evra insisting: "It's a really important time for us.
"This is the time when you have to win your games and show that you are the number one team. It's really important that we just keep going because the league is not finished in February."
