Mignolet eyes Premier League surge
Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet has his sights set on a top-10 finish.
Sunderland shot-stopper Simon Mignolet insists his side must try and force their way into the Premier League's top 10 following a disappointing FA Cup exit.
The Premier League outfit were dumped out in the third round of the FA Cup at the hands of Bolton Wanderers and were left with the weekend off ahead of Tuesday's visit of Swansea City as the fourth round ties were played.
With just the league to concentrate on, Mignolet has called on his side to push for a top-10 finish after a slow start to the campaign.
The Stadium of Light side are currently 11th in the standings, one point adrift of 10th-placed Stoke City and five behind Swansea City. Sunderland can be backed at 2.50 to see off the Swans on Tuesday, and Mignolet is eager to secure as high a finish as possible for his side.
"We are only one point off the top 10," the Belgian keeper told the Sunderland Chronicle. "After the cup result, everyone was thinking there was not a lot to play for any more, but there is still a lot to play for in the table."
Mignolet admits seeing off Swansea will be no easy task, and the keeper believes in-form forward Michu needs to be kept quiet if Sunderland are to take all three points from the clash.
"It is going to be a tough game," he added. "Michu has done very well this season, but it is not just him, they have a lot of good players and it will be difficult at home."
Swansea are 3.00 to take all three points and the draw is priced at 3.40.
