Rangel: We can make history
Angel Rangel says he and his Swansea team-mates have the chance to become club legends when they take on Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
The Swans welcome Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium in the second leg of their Capital Cup semi-final holding a two-goal advantage from the first leg. They have never made the final of a major club competition and Rangel is aware they may not have another opportunity like this for a long time to come.
If you had told me five-and-a-half years ago in League One that I would be...fighting Chelsea to get to the final at Wembley for the Capital One Cup I would have said it was impossible.Angel Rangel
Michael Laudrup's side are 26.00 to win the match 2-0 in normal time, with Rangel 26.00 to score first. A clean sheet for the Swans can be backed at 6.00.
The winners will face Bradford at Wembley after the League Two side defeated Aston Villa over two legs.
Rangel joined the Swans in 2007 when they were in League One and is relishing every moment of their current success.
"If you had told me five-and-a-half years ago in League One that I would be top 10 in the Premier League and fighting Chelsea to get to the final at Wembley for the Capital One Cup I would have said it was impossible," said the right-back.
"I think throughout all these years we have built great teams and you can see now that we are enjoying it on the pitch, and this will be one of those occasions when we can put in a good shift and hopefully get through.
"We can become legends, we can make history. It is one of those games we have been waiting for for a long time."
Fellow defender Chico Flores is available for the clash and Gerhard Tremmel will be in goal having played in every round of the tournament so far.
Meanwhile, top scorer Michu has handed the club a huge boost by agreeing a new contract which will tie him to the club until the summer of 2016. The striker, who cost £2.2million from Rayo Vallecano in July, has attracted interest from other clubs after scoring 13 league goals so far.
"It was an easy decision for me," he told the club's official website. "I am living a dream here at Swansea. I'm probably enjoying my football more than ever."
