Allardyce admits signing frustration

sam-allardyceWest Ham manager Sam Allardyce is still hoping to strengthen his defence during the transfer window but admits he is becoming increasingly frustrated.

Moves for Samuel Inkoom of Dnipro and Nancy's Massadio Haidara have fallen through but Allardyce hasn't given up hope of bringing in reinforcements.

"We're not making as good progress as I would have liked," he said ahead of his side's trip to Arsenal on Wednesday evening.
"It has been hugely frustrating. We've been trying in the whole of the window to try and bring in a defender, but not been able to clinch a deal yet.
"That is probably because we have been looking for a short-term deal in loans, as in terms of not permanent deals. I think at this stage of the window everybody wants to, if they are going to release a player, let him go on a permanent basis, not on a short-term loan basis.
"I think that will probably change as the window gets closer to closing and hopefully we will be more successful in our plight to get a defender in at that stage."
The Hammers could close the gap between themselves and Arsenal to four points with a win at the Emirates. However, they are still likely to be without James Collins with a hamstring injury, while Arsenal loan signing Marouane Chamakh is ineligible.
Allardyce's side are 21.00 to win 2-1, and are 8.00 to keep a clean sheet. A 1-1 draw can be backed at 8.50.
