Rugby Union - Robshaw given Evans backing
Chris Robshaw has been backed to hit back hard after missing the cut for the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia. The England captain was left out of the Lions squad by head coach Warren Gatland, who had a wealth of back-row options to choose from for a tour which ended in a superb 2-1 Test series triumph. However, Robshaw's Harlequins team-mate Nick Evans is confident that his club colleague will use the setback as extra motivation, with Quins 5/1 with bet365 to win the Aviva Premiership Grand Final next season. He told the Rugby Paper: "Chris was desperately unlucky to miss out on the Lions. "Of course he is hurting, but hopefully that will allow him to sit back and say what do I need to do better? How can I come back stronger and show that in my domestic form? "He is still young enough to make the next Lions tour to New Zealand, which is the one you really want to play in."
Soccer - Swans secure record Bony signing
Striker Wilfried Bony is relishing the chance to shine in the Premier League after sealing a record £12million move to Swansea City. The 24-year-old has earned his move to the Swans with some impressive displays for Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem and he becomes the latest in a string of new arrivals at the Liberty Stadium. Swans boss Michael Laudrup, whose side are 20/1 with bet365 to finish in the top six next season, has already recruited Jonjo Shelvey, Alejandro Pozuelo, Jose Canas, Jordi Amat, Gregor Zabret and Alex Gogic. Bony told his new club's official website: "This move has been talked about for quite some time, so I am delighted it is all completed. I believe it's the right step for me; the perfect move. "I chose Swansea because it is a good club with a corresponding style, a great manager and, of course, play in the Premier League."
Golf - Poulter expects Rory recovery
Ian Poulter has tipped Rory McIlroy to recover from a slow start to 2013 and be back among the contenders in the near future. McIlroy has struggled for form since changing his club manufacturer, but is still 20/1 with bet365 to win The Open Championship at Muirfield next week. Poulter told Sky Sports: "The year he had last year was just absolutely exceptional. "The problem is...world number one, major winner, massive year last year, wins two money titles, where does it go from there? "It would be very easy to have a comedown, which is exactly what's happened. The second the confidence gets back to where it was, Rory's going to be flying." McIlroy tied for 25th place at the Masters earlier this year, before finishing down in a tie for 41st place at the US Open, which was won by Englishman Justin Rose.
