Catalans Dragons captain Olivier Elima has set his sights on a famous double over Warrington Wolves when the two sides meet in a Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final at Stobart Stadium, Widnes on Sunday August 8.

The Dragons go into the game having beaten Warrington 29-28 in Engage Super League last week and, ominously for the Cup holders, Elima is warning that the best is still to come from the French club.

“The Super League game against Warrington was really important for us, we had a great win and when we get to Widnes we will try to do it again,” said Elima.

“Now we are only 80 minutes from the final and I am sure the semi-final will be an exciting game.”

Catalans Dragons are currently bottom of the Engage Super League after only winning five games in the league and the Cup represents a golden opportunity to rescue a disappointing season.

“I am really looking forward to the semi-final, the Challenge Cup is our last hope of getting some silverware this year,” said the France Test captain.

“We know we can’t make the play-offs in Super League this year, but it would be nice not to finish at the bottom of the table. We will work hard for the rest of the season for the supporters and ourselves to make sure we don’t finish last.

“But the main thing for us at the moment is the Challenge Cup.”

Despite their lowly position, the Dragons have managed wins against high-placed teams such as Warrington and St Helens in recent weeks and Elima assures supporters there is still more to come.

“I don’t think we have played our best rugby yet, we still have a few players that can come into the team and make a difference. You haven’t seen the best of the Dragon’s yet,” he said.
